Softball Recap: Glenbard East Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Glenbard East hadn't beaten Larkin on the road since May 17, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Rams came out on top against the Royals by a score of 7-3. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Claire Bolda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lilly Carver, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Melissa Saldana was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Glenbard East pushed their record up to 20-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Larkin, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-16.

Coming up, Glenbard East will challenge Conant at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Larkin, they will square off against West Aurora at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
