Softball Game Preview: Brentwood Bruins vs. Coffee County Central Red Raiders

The Brentwood Bruins will head out to square off against the Coffee County Central Red Raiders on Monday. The last five games Brentwood has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Brentwood fell victim to Page and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 1-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Bruins were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Coffee County Central came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 4-0 win.

Not much got past Lily Norman, who gave up just five hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Lincoln County off the board. Norman has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Coffee County Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jalyn Moran, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Coffee County Central's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-12. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Brentwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-6.

Brentwood couldn't quite get it done against Coffee County Central when the teams last played back in May of 2017 as they fell 6-3. Can the Bruins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
