Cannelton suffers 11th straight loss on the road

Recap: Cannelton Bulldogs vs. Columbus Christian Crusaders

The Cannelton Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 55-35 walloping at the hands of Columbus Christian. Cannelton has not had much luck with Columbus Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Columbus Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Peyton Walden led the charge by scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds. The match was Walden's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Cam Pritchard was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Cannelton's defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7. As for Columbus Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cannelton is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Frederick Fraize at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Frederick Fraize comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Columbus Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Traders Point Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Traders Point Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 back in December of 2023.
