Softball Recap: Cherryville's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

It's playoff time, and Cherryville had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Corvian Community Cardinals get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Ironmen have won 12 matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ava Miller was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Jenna Anthony was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cherryville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 9-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Cherryville moved to 14-9 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Corvian Community, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.

Looking ahead, Cherryville will host Swain County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Maroon Devils will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Ironmen surely won't give up without a fight. Corvian Community does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
