Basketball Game Preview: Centennial Chargers vs. Peoria Lions

Centennial hasn't had much luck against Peoria recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Centennial Chargers will square off against the Peoria Lions at 2:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Centennial is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game two weeks ago. They had to suffer through a 89-26 loss at the hands of Lincoln. The Chargers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-13.

Meanwhile, Peoria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 25th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 79-21 defeat at the hands of Peoria Notre Dame. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 498th, while the Irish are ranked 13th).

Peoria's loss dropped their record down to 0-24. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.

Centennial was dealt a bruising 92-36 loss at the hands of Peoria in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Centennial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
