Football Recap: Alisal Takes a Loss

Alisal and St. Ignatius College Preparatory squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Alisal had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 49-7 loss at the hands of the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 129th).

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Luke Tribolet and Steve Malone. Tribolet gained 184 total yards and two touchdowns while Malone rushed for 118 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries. What's more, Tribolet posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in September.

Alisal now has a losing record of 5-6. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-6.

Alisal does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, they will take on Menlo School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' defense has only allowed 11.5 points per game this season, so the Wildcats' offense will have their work cut out for them.
