Baseball Recap: Hickory Grove Christian Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Hickory Grove Christian can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers a 4-0 shutout.

The team relied heavily on Jack Dwyer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Dowdy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Hickory Grove Christian pushed their record up to 10-12 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 17-9 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hickory Grove Christian will head out to take on Charlotte Country Day School at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against Concord Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
