Basketball Recap: Roma Victorious

After losing to Mission the last time they met, Roma decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Roma Gladiators managed a 36-30 victory over the Mission Eagles on Tuesday. The Gladiators didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Mission's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jared Castro, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Leon Villarreal, who posted seven points in addition to 12 rebounds and four steals.

Roma's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Mission, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roma will host Martin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mission and Palmview will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Palmview will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Mission surely won't give up without a fight.
