Volleyball Recap: Coronado Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Regis Groff

Coronado faced Regis Groff in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Cougars fell just short of the Fusion by a score of 2-1. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Gavin Mason paced Coronado's offense, picking up 15 kills. Mason got some help from Jackson Amerine and his 26 assists.

Having lost for the first time this season, Coronado fell to 12-1. As for Regis Groff, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Coronado wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Cheyenne Mountain on the 1st. As for Regis Groff, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Cherokee Trail at 6:30 p.m. on the 4th.
