Football Game Preview: Charlotte Catholic Cougars vs. Piedmont Panthers + How To Watch

Charlotte Catholic is a perfect 3-0 against Piedmont since October of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cougars will head out to take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Charlotte Catholic will be strutting in after a win while Piedmont will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, Charlotte Catholic didn't have too much trouble with Cuthbertson as they won 28-14. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 125th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Charlotte Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Garrett Nowlan led the charge by rushing for 51 yards and one touchdown, while also picking up 44 receiving yards and one TD. The Cougars also got a significant boost from Max Whalen, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 103 yards.

Meanwhile, Piedmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a blow against Weddington, falling 49-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Charlotte Catholic now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Piedmont, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything came up roses for Charlotte Catholic against Piedmont when the teams last played back in October of 2019, as the team secured a 49-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
