Wayne Preparatory Academy triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Isaiah Thomas

The Wayne Preparatory Academy Generals had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Eastern Wayne with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 70-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

It was another big night for Isaiah Thomas, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Wayne Preparatory Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Coles, who scored 15 points along with two steals.

Eastern Wayne's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zavion Burden, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Bobby Tann, who scored nine points.

Wayne Preparatory Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Eastern Wayne, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne Preparatory Academy will face off against Howard at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Eastern Wayne, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Beddingfield at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Beddingfield is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
