Benjamin is 9-1 against Cardinal Newman since November of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Benjamin Buccaneers will take on the Cardinal Newman Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. Benjamin will be strutting in after a win while Cardinal Newman will be coming in after a defeat.

Benjamin can't be too worried about heading out to take on Cardinal Newman: they just beat Martin County at home, who had been dominant on their own pitch up to that point. Benjamin had just enough and edged Martin County out 2-1. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Tigers are ranked 114th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman fell victim to Saint Andrew's and their airtight defense on Thursday. They came up short against the Scots, falling 3-0. Considering the last time the Crusaders couldn't score was back in November of 2024, the team can't take the result too hard.

The victory made it two in a row for Benjamin and bumps their season record up to 12-2-1. As for Cardinal Newman, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Benjamin took their win against Cardinal Newman in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Benjamin since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
