Softball Game Preview: Dover Green Wave vs. Salem Blue Devils

Dover hasn't had much luck against Salem recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Green Wave will challenge the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Dover put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. They never let Nashua North get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Green Wave in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won nine in a row.

Jenna Martel looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Curry, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Mollie Smith also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Dover hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Salem came out on top against Exeter on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Blue Devils blew past the Blue Hawks 10-3.

The victory got Salem back to even at 2-2. As for Dover, their record now sits at 5-2.

Dover might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from Salem when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Green Wave avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
