Baseball Recap: Mapleton Takes a Loss

Mapleton had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 0-7 to make it 11. They came up short against the St. Paul Flyers, falling 30-0. The Mounties were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Flyers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Mapleton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Wrobleski, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Wrobleski is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season.

As for St. Paul, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. Considering they have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On St. Paul's side, Alex Marsh was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Marsh was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Izaac Snyder was incredible, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and five runs while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Fries, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: St. Paul beat Mapleton by a score of 11-1 on Tuesday.
