After a string of five wins, the Classical Magnet Gladiators's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They suffered a rough 75-53 defeat at the hands of Capital Prep. Classical Magnet was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Capital Prep apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

It was another big night for Amare Cockfield, who went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 37 points and 4 assists for Capital Prep. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cockfield has scored at least a third of Capital Prep's points. Syre Gillespie was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.

Classical Magnet's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Capital Prep, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Classical Magnet will take on Weaver at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Weaver's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Capital Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bulkeley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Capital Prep is facing Bulkeley at the right time seeing as Bulkeley is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
