Basketball Recap: Wootton Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Wootton's game on Tuesday was all tied up 26-26 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 59-53 to the Magruder Colonels. The Patriots were not able to make up for their loss to the Colonels from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Wootton still got an impressive performance from Chase Mitchell, who posted 20 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Another player making a difference was Darnel Engoto, who had ten points and three blocks.

Among those leading the charge was Zeke Dabbondanza, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave him a new career-high. Nate Wilson was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

Wootton is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points over those games. As for Magruder, their record now sits at 2-0.

Looking ahead, Wootton is taking a road trip to take on Rockville at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Magruder, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Northwest at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
