Volleyball Recap: Lee Williams Volunteers vs. Mingus Marauders
Lee Williams was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of the Mingus Marauders by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Volunteers of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September.
Lee Williams started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-13.
Even though they lost, Lee Williams was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mingus only served 14.
Mingus can attribute much of their success to Megan Cluff, who had 24 digs.
Lee Williams' loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Mingus, their record now sits at 11-15.
Lee Williams wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Lake Havasu on the 19th. As for Mingus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Flagstaff at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Flagstaff is coming into the matchup with three straight wins on the road, so Mingus will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
