Softball Game Preview: Cary-Grove Trojans vs. Prairie Ridge Wolves

The Cary-Grove Trojans are taking a road trip to face off against the Prairie Ridge Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cary-Grove took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Jacobs. The victory was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Holly Streit was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last nine contests.

Cary-Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jacobs only posted a batting average of .167.

Meanwhile, Prairie Ridge entered their tilt with Huntley on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They skirted past the Red Raiders 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted since April 14th.

Prairie Ridge pushed their record up to 17-1-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Cary-Grove, their record now sits at 6-12.

Cary-Grove might still be hurting after the 11-2 defeat they got from Prairie Ridge when the teams last played back in April. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
