Basketball Game Preview: Sierra Vista Mountain Lions vs. Silverado Skyhawks

Sierra Vista is 8-2 against Silverado since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mountain Lions will square off against the Skyhawks at 5:00 p.m. Sierra Vista will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Sierra Vista will bounce into Friday's game after beating Basic, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Mountain Lions blew past the Wolves 69-25 on Wednesday. The Mountain Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 30 points or more this season.

Donnayja Gibson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a triple-double with 36 points, 11 rebounds, and nine steals. Her big performance that evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Silvas, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.

Sierra Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Silverado came up short against Eldorado on Wednesday and fell 44-37. The Skyhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sierra Vista's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Silverado, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Sierra Vista against Silverado when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 55-17 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mountain Lions since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
