Preview: Central Academy Cougars vs. West Stanly Colts
Central Academy is 1-9 against West Stanly since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Central Academy Cougars will look to defend their home court against the West Stanly Colts at 6:00 p.m. Central Academy is out to stop a 19-game streak of losses at home.
Central Academy suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2023 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Parkwood 68-27. Central Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-21.
The losing side was boosted by Jadah Pringle, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. That was a full 40.7% of Central Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, West Stanly's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They lost to North Stanly at home by a decisive 62-44 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Stanly in their matchups with North Stanly: they've now lost eight in a row.
Central Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for West Stanly, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-10.
Central Academy was taken down by West Stanly 62-19 in their previous matchup on January 2nd. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Central Academy was down 45-11.
