Basketball Recap: The Webb Schools Comes Up Short

The Webb Schools lost against Azusa back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Webb Schools Gauls came up short against the Azusa Aztecs, falling 62-40. The contest marked the Gauls' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the defeat, The Webb Schools saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ethan Hao went 8 for 12 on his way to 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hao has scored all season.

Azusa had a senior duo take command as Adam Sanchez shot 5-for-8 from deep and dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards and Antoine Cueller-Morgan went 10 of 21 on his way to 26 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sanchez has scored at least a third of Azusa's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Garcia, who posted five points in addition to six boards and five assists.

The Webb Schools' loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Azusa, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

The Webb Schools will head out to face off against El Rancho at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Azusa, they will host El Monte at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Azusa is facing El Monte at the right time seeing as El Monte is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
