League recap: Sub-par week lands Lincoln outside of Rhode Island's top 25

Division I - North league recap: 5/21/12

With a rough week, Lincoln dropped out of the state's top 25 rankings. Lincoln fell from No. 23 to No. 28 after going 0-2 over the past week. The Lions are ranked No. 8677 in the nation, and have an overal record of 7-10.

In the ongoing battle for first place, North Providence beat La Salle Academy this week, 10-1 on Thursday. North Providence leads Division I - North with a 13-0 record, and has an overall record of 17-2.

La Salle Academy's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only 19 hits and five walks, both of which led the league. The Rams have given up a mere 91 hits on the year, while striking out 133 opposing hitters. Caleb Gardner is the leader in that category with 41 Ks on the season.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Gardner, who turned in five Ks for La Salle Academy. He's first in the league with 41 total strikeouts.



Caleb Gardner threw a shutout as he led North Providence to victory over La Salle Academy, 10-1, on Thursday. He struck out five, allowing one hits.

Jon Lapolla had four hits in four at bats in La Salle Academy's 5-2 victory over Smithfield on Monday. He rounded out his day with three runs batted in and one runs scored.
