Softball Recap: East Stroudsburg South Wins Going Away Against Bethlehem Catholic

East Stroudsburg South made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bethlehem Catholic, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cavaliers blew past the Hawks 11-4 on Thursday. With that victory, the Cavaliers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Joslynn Yurescko made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Johanna Carey was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Joey Cappa was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

East Stroudsburg South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

East Stroudsburg South's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Bethlehem Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Stroudsburg South will welcome Emmaus at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 12.4 runs per game this season. As for Bethlehem Catholic, they will square off against Louis E. Dieruff at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Huskies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.17 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
