Softball Game Preview: Gosnell Pirates vs. Westside Warriors

The Gosnell Pirates will venture away from home to square off against the Westside Warriors at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Gosnell 2.8, Westside 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Gosnell is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Westside just ended the team's four-game winning streak last Tuesday. They fell 7-4 to the Warriors.

For Westside's part, Mckyna Craig was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Craig has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Westside is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Gosnell, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.
