Basketball Recap: Hylton Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fairfax, Hylton was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They managed a 36-31 win over the Osbourn Eagles. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 39-26 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Among those leading the charge was Raegan Cathcart, who posted 15 points along with five assists and five boards. Jashua King was another key player, putting up six points along with five rebounds and four steals.

With the victory, Hylton broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5. As for Osbourn, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Hylton and Osbourn could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Hylton (ranked 314th) will meet Brentsville District (ranked 87th) at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Meanwhile, Osbourn will take on Osbourn Park at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025 down 341 places (344 vs. 3).
