Basketball Recap: Andrean Skates Past Griffith with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Andrean). They blew past the Griffith Panthers 51-15 on Saturday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Fighting 59ers with their most commanding win of the season.

Lindsay Arcella had an outrageously good game as she went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc on her way to 27 points. What's more, she also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Maddie Walton was another key player, going 5 for 7 on her way to 10 points in addition to five boards and four blocks.

Andrean smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Griffith only pulled down four offensive rebounds.

Olivia Esquivel and Nijah Young certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Esquivel posted five points, while Young put up two points.

The victory got Andrean back to even at 4-4. As for Griffith, they moved to 5-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Andrean didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-31 defeat against Rensselaer Central on the 17th. As for Griffith, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 54-22 win against Calumet New Tech on the 16th.
