Football Recap: Alexandria City Piles Up the Points Against Lewis + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alexandria City). They blew past the Lewis Lancers, posting a 71-0 win. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Lancers are ranked 321st) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alexandria City was led to victory by Alpha Jalloh and D'Angelo Duarte. Jalloh rushed for 95 yards and three scores on only five carries, while Duarte rushed for 135 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. Jalloh is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Lucas Callahan was in the mix too, providing Alexandria City with two TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Alexandria City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 369 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Alexandria City, adding 15 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Callahan, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Alexandria City's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Lewis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Alexandria City wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 23-21 win against Woodson on the 26th. As for Lewis, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-0 loss against Mount Vernon on the 26th.
