Basketball Recap: La Monte Comes Up Short

La Monte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Christian Fellowship and fell 58-22. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Christian Fellowship are ranked 41st).

Leading Christian Fellowship to victory were Brooke Grathwohl and Ariya Barton. Grathwohl almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards, while Barton dropped a triple-double on ten points, ten assists, and ten steals. Barton has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Kay, who posted seven points.

La Monte's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Christian Fellowship, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

La Monte will head out to square off against Columbia Independent at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Christian Fellowship, they will be playing at home against Lighthouse Prep Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
