Softball Recap: Morehead Takes a Loss

Morehead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the McMichael Phoenix, falling 9-2. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Phoenix apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Morehead saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Hopper, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Hayley Cruise also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Morehead's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for McMichael, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Morehead is set to take on their familiar foe T.W. Andrews at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, McMichael will square off against rival Walkertown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (McMichael 3.9, Walkertown 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
