The Brown City Green Devils will head out to face off against the Deckerville Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Brown City made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sandusky, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Green Devils fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 6-4 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Green Devils have suffered since April 19, 2025.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Deckerville). They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over Akron-Fairgrove on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Ian Flanagan made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Evan Benjey was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brayden Russell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Deckerville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Deckerville is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Brown City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.
Brown City beat Deckerville 4-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
