Softball Game Preview: Waubonsie Valley Warriors vs. Bartlett Hawks

The Waubonsie Valley Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Bartlett Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Waubonsie Valley turned things around against Metea Valley on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since April 10th.

Molly Quinn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Waubonsie Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dezirae Kelly, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Kelly has posted since back in March.

Bartlett came out on top against Elmwood Park on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run fourth inning. The Hawks blew past the Tigers 12-4. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by eight runs or more this season.

Bartlett has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Waubonsie Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.

Waubonsie Valley might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Bartlett in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
