Basketball Recap: Portland Falls Despite Big Games from Keilen Dalton and Tristan Calvert

Portland suffered their closest defeat since January 17th on Friday. They fell just short of the Greenbrier Bobcats by a score of 64-61. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-58 back in January.

Portland's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tristan Calvert, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 12 points, and Keilen Dalton, who went 7-for-9 en route to 18 points and seven boards. Dalton's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Jay Guthrie also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Portland's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Greenbrier, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portland will host White House at 7:30 p.m. on February 22nd. Portland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season. As for Greenbrier, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Liberty Creek at 7:30 p.m. Liberty Creek will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Greenbrier surely won't give up without a fight.
