Baseball Recap: Williamsburg Comes Up Short

Williamsburg had lost 29 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-25 to make it 30. They lost 22-0 to the Whitley County Colonels. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Yellow Jackets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Whitley County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

For Whitley County's part, EJ Allen and Kip Allen did most of the damage at the plate: EJ went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Kip went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most RBI EJ has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Mountjoy, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

As of now, neither Williamsburg nor Whitley County have any future games scheduled.
