Everett is the easy top pick as our top team in the state. Don't count out Boston College High, Leominster, Duxbury and Longmeadow.

Wide receiver Jalen Felix (3) and Everett hope to be on top again in 2012.

1. Everett
2011 finish: 13-0
Head coach: John DiBiaso
Team Preview
The Tide enter the 2012 season as the premier program in the state and perhaps New England. Winners of two straight Division 1 Super Bowls and aiming for a third consecutive undefeated season, Everett will need to replace graduated All-State quarterback Jonathan DiBiaso, but will again reload and battle for supremacy at the state's highest level. Everett tops our list of the Top 10 Massachusetts most consistent programs.

2. Boston College High
2011 finish: 10-3
Head coach: Joe Gaff
Team Preview
The Eagles rebounded nicely last season after a "down" year in 2010, winning their second Super Bowl title in the last four years. BC High replaces head coach Jon Bartlett but shouldn't have an issue remaining among the powers in the Catholic Conference, arguably the toughest league in Massachusetts. Boston College High ranks No. 4 on our June, 2011 list of the Top 10 Massachusetts football dynasties.

3. Leominster
2011 finish: 11-3
Head coach: David Palazzi
Team Preview
The Blue Devils reclaimed the top spot in central Massachusetts last December, handing St. John's of Shrewsbury a Super Bowl defeat, and look to again be the marquee program in the region. Leominster will again face Everett and Brockton in nonleague play, leaving little doubt to the confidence head coach David Palazzi has in his team. Leominster can be found on our list of Massachusetts state football champions for the past nine years.

4. Duxbury
2011 finish: 13-0
Head coach: Dave Maimaron
Team Preview
There's not much more to be proven for a team that won its second-straight Super Bowl in convincing fashion in 2011. But the Dragons, who maintained a 26-point margin of victory, are back for more. Look for leading scorer Jon Hurvitz to again be a force for Duxbury. Check out our list of Massachusetts Class of 2012 Division 1 football signees.

5. Longmeadow
2011 finish: 12-2
Head coach: Nick St. George
Team Preview
The Lancers endured what could be considered a difficult year in 2011, falling during the regular season to another Western Massachusetts team, Springfield Central. But their 15th-straight Super Bowl appearance - and 11th title - was gained despite major injury issues throughout the fall. The experienced Lancers return as the favorite again in western Massachusetts. Search for Longmeadow players on our list of 2011 Massachusetts All-League football teams.
