Soccer Game Preview: Otay Ranch vs. Southwest SD

The Otay Ranch Mustangs will take on the Southwest SD Raiders in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Otay Ranch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.7 goals per game this season.

Otay Ranch's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Coronado as Otay Ranch made off with a 4-0 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Mustangs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 497th, while the Islanders are ranked 138th).

Otay Ranch hit Coronado with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Enrique Gasca (2), Esteban Gonzalez, and Hiram Mora.

Meanwhile, Southwest SD narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Castle Park 2-1. That's two games straight that the Raiders have won by just one goal.

Otay Ranch's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-3-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those three games. As for Southwest SD, they now have a winning record of 3-2-3.
