It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the King's Academy Lions can now relate to. They took a hard 74-60 fall against the Crusaders on Saturday. King's Academy's defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Javian Jones, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Evan Alicea was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Jermaine Council was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with four steals for Cardinal Newman. Council continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Grande, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.

King's Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Cardinal Newman, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

King's Academy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Santa Fe Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th. One thing working in Santa Fe Catholic's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 19 matches. As for Cardinal Newman, they will face off against Bell Creek Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cardinal Newman is coming into the match with seven straight victories on the road, so Bell Creek Academy is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
