It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Falcons face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Falcon is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Mesa Ridge: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Falcon blew Mesa Ridge out of the water with a 69-14 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Falcons had established a 42 point advantage.

Falcon's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexis Hunter, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Hunter a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Cobelyn Wiesner, who posted 14 points and five assists.
Falcon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 28 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Pueblo East came tearing into Friday's match with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They breezed past the Hornets to the tune of 61-28.
Pueblo East's win came from a few key players Falcon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ilyne Avila, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. She has been hot, having also posted five or more blocks the last six times she's played. Emilee Hutchings was another key player, on her way to 13 points and six steals.
Pueblo East's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.8 points over those games. As for Falcon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
Falcon came up short against Pueblo East in their previous matchup back in January, falling 54-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pueblo East's Myah Abeyta, who en route to 30 points. Now that Falcon knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
