Baseball Preview: Tate Aggies vs. Pace Patriots

The Tate Aggies will head out on the road to square off against the Pace Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Tate came into Tuesday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Navarre on Tuesday and snuck past 6-5. The victory was just what Tate needed coming off of a 12-2 defeat in their prior contest.

Neal Croom tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Cole McNair was excellent, going 3-for-3 with three RBI and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ketch King, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Pace had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs), and they went ahead and made it ten on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Raiders.

The victory got Tate back to even at 9-9. As for Pace, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Tate suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Pace in their previous matchup back in March. Can Tate avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
