Recap: Ripon Christian Knights vs. Hilmar Yellowjackets
The Ripon Christian Knights stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They breezed by Hilmar at home to the tune of 61-33. Given Ripon Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th, while Hilmar is ranked 1115th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ripon Christian found their leader in underclassman Jake Vander Veen, who scored 17 points. Jace Beidleman was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
When it comes to explaining why Hilmar lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dylan Decosta. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points.
Ripon Christian has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Hilmar, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.
Ripon Christian will head out on the road to face off against Riverbank at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Erick Jimenez and Vander Veen. As for Hilmar, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Livingston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Livingston is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
