Basketball Game Preview: Leo Lions vs. Fenwick Friars

The Leo Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Fenwick Friars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Leo has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 184 points over their last three contests.

Last Sunday, Leo strolled past Crete-Monee with points to spare, taking the game 59-41. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Warriors are ranked 98th).

Fenwick has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-48 heartbreaker at the hands of Simeon. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Friars have suffered since December 29, 2023.

Leo has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Fenwick, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.

Things could have been worse for Leo, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 44-29 loss to Fenwick in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Leo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
