Football Recap: Morristown Takes a Loss

Morristown came into this matchup off a tough 24-point loss last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Elizabeth Minutemen by a score of 24-21 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Colonials in their meetings with the Minutemen: they've now lost three in a row.

A big part of Elizabeth's victory came down to the chemistry between A'Rique Fleming and his top target Qua'Yon Williams. Fleming threw for 146 yards and two TDs on only 11 passes while Williams picked up 73 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Fleming's passing game has become a key predictor of Elizabeth's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-4 otherwise.

Morristown's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Elizabeth, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4.

Coming up, Morristown will square off against Morris Knolls at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Elizabeth, they will take on Watchung Hills Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
