Basketball Game Preview: Tabiona Tigers vs. Manila Mustangs

Tabiona has gone 9-1 against Manila recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Tigers will host the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Tabiona's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Manila's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Tabiona is returning to their home court after beating Tintic on theirs, despite the fact Tintic has dominated at home this season. The Tigers enjoyed a cozy 54-38 win over the Miners on Saturday. The Tigers pushed the score to 49-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Miners cut but never quite recovered from.

Joy Gines went supernova, shooting 62% from beyond the arc en route to 26 points. Those 26 points gave her a new career-high. Isabella Gines was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Tabiona smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Manila's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 72-56 fall against Rich.

Manila's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Tabiona, their victory bumped their record up to 19-2.

Tabiona was able to grind out a solid win over Manila when the teams last played back in January, winning 50-40. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Mustangs' Kassali Wall, who posted 17 points along with seven boards and four steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Tigers still be able to contain Wall? There's only one way to find out.
