Volleyball Recap: York Dukes vs. Hinsdale South Hornets

York was the 2-0 winner over Hinsdale South when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Dukes fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Dukes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, York sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 19-25, 25-18.

Jake Wede paced York's offense, picking up seven kills. Wede got some help from Carson Cruver and his 24 assists. Finally, Stanley Peck kept York's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

York's defeat dropped their record down to 24-10. As for Hinsdale South, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-11.

York and Hinsdale South should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Dukes will take on Chicago Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (20 vs. 121). Meanwhile, Hinsdale South (ranked 42nd) will meet Addison Trail (ranked 128th) at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
