Volleyball Recap: River Islands Comes Up Short

After flying high against Venture Academy last Thursday, River Islands came back down to earth. The Riptide came up short against the Ben Holt College Prep Academy Bobcats on Tuesday, falling 3-0. Considering the last time the Riptide couldn't score was back in February, the team can't take the result too hard.

While River Islands was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Ben Holt College Prep Academy's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-22.

Eric Irving paced River Islands' offense, picking up 12 kills. Irving got some help from Urijah DeOcampo and his 18 assists.

Leading Ben Holt College Prep Academy to victory were Damian Armenta and Clive Cariaso. Armenta had 23 assists and eight digs, while Cariaso had 13 digs. That's the most digs Cariaso has posted over his last ten contests.

River Islands' loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-4. As for Ben Holt College Prep Academy, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 21-1.

River Islands didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Millennium on the 3rd. As for Ben Holt College Prep Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Livingston on the 3rd.
