Football Recap: Friday's Loss Ends West Plains' Winning Streak

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact West Plains can now relate to. They fell 43-36 to the Celina Bobcats on Friday. The Wolves' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, West Plains had strong showings from SLADE RUSSELL, who rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns, and REID MACON, who threw for 267 yards and two touchdowns. West Plains is undefeated when RUSSELL posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise. A healthy portion of MACON's aerial production (81 yards to be exact) went to KADEN HOOKER, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

West Plains' defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Celina, the win keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.

West Plains does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Celina will take on Kilgore in a holiday battle at at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Celina knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past 15 matches -- so hopefully Kilgore likes a good challenge.
