Columbia has gone 9-1 against Vallivue recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Columbia will welcome Vallivue at 5:30 p.m. Columbia has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Columbia came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 23-6 to Bishop Kelly. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Brody Springer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Chatterton, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Vallivue put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Nampa 14-2. Considering the Falcons have won five games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Colt Augustus, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Isaac Farrel was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Vallivue was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nampa only posted a batting average of .176.
Vallivue's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Columbia, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Columbia has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like Vallivue struggles in that department as they've averaged .500. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Columbia couldn't quite get it done against Vallivue when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can Columbia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
