Football Recap: Mount Vernon Comes Up Short

Mount Vernon lost against Whitefield Academy back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mustangs were outmatched by the WolfPack and fell 48-14.

Mason Hollingsworth was a one-man wrecking crew For Whitefield Academy. as he rushed for 275 yards and five TDs while picking up 13.1 yards per carry. Those 275 rushing yards gave Hollingsworth a new career-high. Whitefield Academy also got a significant boost from Amos Robinson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.

Mount Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Whitefield Academy, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Vernon is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Brookstone at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Whitefield Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Social Circle at 7:30 p.m. on September 5.
