Preview: Williams Valley Vikings vs. Weatherly
Williams Valley is on a three-game streak of home losses, Weatherly a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Williams Valley Vikings will take on Weatherly at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, Williams Valley came up short against Annville-Cleona and fell 50-43.
Meanwhile, Weatherly ended up a good deal behind Schuylkill Haven on Saturday and lost 69-53. Weatherly has not had much luck with Schuylkill Haven recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Niko Saldukas, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Corbin Wagner, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Weatherly were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. This was only their ninth loss (out of 11 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Williams Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Weatherly, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Williams Valley couldn't quite finish off Weatherly when the teams last played back in February of 2021 and fell 47-44. Thankfully for Williams Valley, Scotty Zoscin (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
