Football Recap: Ridgemont Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hardin Northern last Friday, Ridgemont came back down to earth. The Golden Gophers were outmatched by the North Baltimore Tigers and fell 49-21. The Golden Gophers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.

Luke Long was his usual excellent self, rushing for 107 yards and two scores on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 202 yards and three TDs for North Baltimore. Those 107 rushing yards gave Long a new career-high. Brody Walter also helped out as he racked up 111 rushing yards.

Ridgemont has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for North Baltimore, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Ridgemont will take on Cory-Rawson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Gophers will be up against the Fighting Hornets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for North Baltimore, they will face off against Crestline at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
