Preview: Canterbury Crusaders vs. Academy at the Lakes Wildcats
The Canterbury Crusaders will head out on the road to square off against the Academy at the Lakes Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Canterbury is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Canterbury posted their biggest victory since November 28, 2023 on Thursday. They blew past Gulf Coast HEAT 50-29.
Zy'nasia Alhuzaifi continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'maria Long, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
Even though Academy at the Lakes has not done well against Lakeland Christian recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Academy at the Lakes simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lakeland Christian 57-24 at home. Academy at the Lakes has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 27 points or more this season.
Canterbury's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Academy at the Lakes, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Canterbury beat Academy at the Lakes 54-46 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Canterbury since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
